Our favorite Lanna food(น้ำพริกหนุ่ม)

Nick and I always go back to my hometown in Doisaket,Ching Mai on the weekends. It is very nice and calm for us especially me. We like to ride our bicycle around village or ride to visit my grandma who live  far from my parents’ house about 10-15 minutes. Not just going and hanging around village that we like to do there,we also like to go back home because of foods that my mom cook for us. She always cooks all of them from scratch. So it’s very delicious and unique taste. No one can copy her. Guarantee from my husband,Nick.

This weekend,she cooked Chili paste for us that we eat it with stream veggies and deep fried meat{This time she bought us fried chicken} She also cooked mushroom soup {เห็ดฟาง} for us too. The soup is mild favor.She only put salt and soy sauce into it.

Whatever…the amazing is Green Chili paste or we call Nam-Prik-Noom {น้ำพริกหนุ่ม} in Northern Thai language. The way to cook it is a little bit delicate. You need to grill all ingredients first such as green chilies, shallots ,garlic and fish paste. Nowadays, most people are lazy to follow the steps like original way. They prefer streaming or boiling all ingredients instead grilling but I can say the taste and the smell is so different. Grilling way give you more favor and it smells very good! I swear!

Grill it with charcoal always the best! The banana wrapping on the site is fermented fish paste.

Then smash all ingredients together…add some salt and more tiny chili if your like more spicy.
